From the Town Hall Seattle web site, "As part of the 2012 Earshot Jazz Festival, two of Seattle’s most acclaimed high-school jazz bands take the stage for one night of amazing music—and energy. The Roosevelt High School jazz band has matured into one of the nation’s most accomplished programs; under Scott Brown, the band has been a perennial powerhouse at the national Essentially Ellington High School Jazz Band Competition & Festival in New York. Also at the 2012 Essentially Ellington event, for the first time, was the Ballard High School jazz band, directed by Michael James; several BHS musicians received outstanding soloist awards.
