4th Annual Hawaiian Slack Key Festival: Music from ‘The Descendants’[music and concerts]
From the Town Hall Seattle web site, "Slack-key guitar is a treasured musical tradition in Hawaii, where it is called ki ho`alu, (literally, “loosen the key”). With their unique, finger-picked style, slack-key pieces typically reflect Hawaiian themes of feelings, aloha, and nature. Likewise, the annual Seattle Slack Key Festival is a treasured musical tradition at Town Hall—this year, the fest celebrates the music of the George Clooney movie “The Descendants” and features many of the Hawaiian musicians who contributed to the soundtrack: Dennis Kamakahi, Cyril Pahinui, Jeff Peterson, Makana, Charles Brotman, Peter Moon, Jeff Au Hoy, and special guest Nathan Aweau. Also on the program: emcees Skylark Rosetti and Braddah Gomes, local hula halau, Hawaiian tropical flowers, and prize drawings. Presented by the Seattle Slack Key Festival."
