Danielewski, best-selling author of the mind-bending House of Leaves, conducts a live performance adaptation of his newest novella, The Fifty Year Sword. In the “adult ghost story,” five orphans gather late one Halloween to hear a story about a quest for a terrible weapon; before them lies a black box with five latches. As the owner of the box settles into a curious tale, the children grow more captivated—and we grow more afraid … especially as the clocks approach midnight. Performed by Seattle Radio Theatre, with the visionary Christopher O’Riley on piano, expect plenty of spooky music and master storytelling.
