In the summer of 1972, Dean Adams is a crew member on a sinking Alaskan fishing schooner -- and he's at the helm. Learn how Adams found himself in that situation when he reads about his adventures, including tales of twenty-hour workdays, the ocean's raw power and the examples of human courage and vulnerability during his time at sea.
Adams retired from Alaskan commercial fishing in 2007. He has a bachelor's degree and a master's degree from the School of Aquatic and Fishery Science at the University of Washington. He and his family live in Seattle and New Zealand.
